EXPO World Legends Cup & FIFA

Football legends such as Cruijff, Figo, Maradona, Pelé and Zidane have been immortalized in Lanaken by ten international artists The result can be seen at an expo in Qatar during the World Cup and from now on also at GLO’ART in Lanaken. All original works will be auctioned in aid of UNICEF.

For weeks, a few selected artists from Italy, the Netherlands, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Spain, Argentina and South Africa have been working on a real project in the GLO’ART studios.
For most artists it was a grand reunion since they previously enjoyed a residency at GLO’ART. At the request of curator Zoë Schoonbrood, they again traveled to Limburg to participate in a special international project. The order for this came from the Legend World Cup, a football tournament for former professional football players who are still active, which will be held in the Middle East in early 2023. Also on behalf of FIFA, she wanted to link a good cause to the tournament. GLO’ART was chosen because they have the experience in residencies with international artists. The artworks created will be auctioned and the proceeds will go to UNICEF, the children’s fund of the United Nations.
