Emiko’s hair

In the medieval Japan, Heian gentleman were not very interested in a woman’s physical beauty and rarely had an opportunity to see it. The only physical attribute of interest was a woman’s hair, which had to be thick and longer than she was tall. So Emiko is looking outside the canvas and she is lying on her own dark and long hair. She looks relaxed in the painting, the position of her arms gives the idea that she is comfortable lying there. Although her hair appears to be alive and is wrapped around her neck and going to her arms. Is just hair on her own hair, she is naked we can see her shoulders uncovered and part of her chest too.
