Couple Adam&Eva (Original Sin)

This painting depicts the story from the Book of Genesis. The figures of Adam and Eva appear in an untypical position of embrace. They are accompanied by a serpent which is represented with a long, soft looking form that ends with a human hand, placed in the up-left angle of the painting, behind Eve. According to the narrative, the serpent convinced Eve to try an apple from the Tree of Knowledge in spite of God’s strict prohibition. In my interpretation, the serpent drops the apple which Eve catches. Apparently feared and disturbed because of her wrongdoing, Eve has Adam’s understanding and support
