MARIEKE VERLANGEN
THE NETHERLANDS
“An artist without a marked discipline. Silent explorer and Homo ludens – playful human. I work from a base of curiosity and a desire for beauty. The most wonderful thing about being human is our ability to create, although humans do make a lot of ugliness. The most important question in my life is: ‘What is it to be human, and how can I add some beauty to the world from my humanity?’ Let's take paradise as a verb instead of a place. I paradise. You paradise. I write love letters to strangers, give workshops in happiness, make books, write recipes. For GLO’ART I was invited by Veerle to collaborate on a series of dreamland photos. Some of them were a paradise.”

A woman with an egg to a blue background, smoke in front of the picture
The woman looks into a distant direction, into the past where she has known sadness. But having experienced sadness can also make you kind. You can rise like a feniks from the ashes off your sadness and create something new.

"A woman 's touch of magic" N°0627
A woman bending over, holding a big egg
A woman's touch of magic is always intangible. She gives birth to a new life, which is true magic. You are invited to look at this picture, but you are not included, the image is cropped to a narrow space, her face is not visible for the outsider. You only get a small "peek"
